This book was just too reminiscent of other books in the genre for it to stand out to me. The trials were set up and then completed a third of the way through the book, which just left the plot and pacing all over the place for the remainder of the story. The main characters Kya and Ryker were not very memorable, they just felt like the typical romantasy main characters. The only times they felt unique to me were when they would make especially terrible decisions, which really came out in the end of the book.

My memory of this book blends with all the others in the genre, so while it wasn't terrible it just didn't really stand out for me.
