Ava Reid is trying to resurrect the dystopian genre, and I’m sold. The premise is interesting: the Cold War is still raging, and four teenagers are caught in the crossfire, trained to be secret agents.

I had some issues with pacing, but the relationships between the characters and the worldbuilding make up for it. The cutthroat dynamic between Klaudia and Julian really contrasts with the more heartfelt relationship between Giselle and Nadiya. All the characters are very unique, but somehow they still work well together.

The plot did fall a little flat in comparison to the worldbuilding and characters, but overall this was a very enjoyable story. 3.5 stars.
