I have never DNF’d a book before, but I genuinely could not get through While We Were Silent. The writing felt inconsistent, and while the setting skewed more YA, the topics were unmistakably adult.

The premise centers on sensitive subject matter that, in my opinion, was not handled with the care or seriousness it deserved. As a result, I found the reading experience uncomfortable and ultimately couldn’t bring myself to finish.

Very disappointing.
