The Twelve
by Liz Hyder
Complicated
★★★☆☆
I have never read a YA book quite like The Twelve. The story is emotional, and the characters are very fleshed out, which really makes you feel the bond between Kit and Libby and want them to find their way back to each other.
There is time travel, and the magic in this book feels more like folklore meeting our world rather than pure magic. There were certain elements of the plot that missed the mark for me, namely the execution of the bullying storyline, and at times it felt like it was aimed at a slightly younger audience than YA. Still, it’s a good, family-friendly read.
