Literal flaming garbage I don't know why I did this to myself. This book has to be the unedited proofs because I genuinely refuse to believe this work went through any modicum of editing.

First of all the leads were the most soulless enemies to lovers slop byproduct that I have ever read. We get it they're workaholic nepo babies who have hated each other, but somehow been in love with each other their entire lives. I genuinely can't tell you anything else about either mc, Sebastian is just a manifestation of the 6'5 grumpy billionaire archetype who was born into money and works hard and has a soft spot for the fmc who is borderline a self-insert. We don't know anything about Maya other than that she is a workaholic, has an inferiority complex, and "hates" Sebastian, which isn't even true.

I can't even bring myself to talk about the plot, or lack thereof. Every conflict in this book was fake in the sense that it's not actually a conflict or so unbelievably outrageous that it just takes you out of the book in it's absurdity. I can't even convey the plot since there was nothing to convey and while nothing is going on you have the most bland insta love "enemies to lovers" plot unfolding.

I really wanted to like this because this is the first time I have seen a brown fmc in a romance and it's so unfortunate that it was this one. That being said I'll give C for effort, no matter how bad the book was Ana Huang did make an attempt at representation and even consulted outside sources. Was it mediocre in its execution, yes, but that's not outside the norm for the quality of her books. I've read worse and I will continue to read worse, this isn't even my worst rated book in this series.
