This was such a fun read. I never thought I would be enjoying a ya fantasy centred around a baking competition, but here we are. Elara Rousseau was able to perfectly balance the lighthearted whimsy of the world with the heavier themes around class and exploitation.

The main character Elara is an orphan who is able to sneak into the competition due to her sponsor Nik who has ulterior motives for helping Elara. This book was like if the hunger games met the great british bakeoff and I am obsessed.

Overall a great YA, I highly recommend and I will be eagerly waiting for the next book.
